How will SESAR impact the future of flight operations? How will it work in practice? What will the benefits be? Over the past 5 years, a consortium led by Airbus - and including Lufthansa Systems, Sabre Airline Solutions, and Airbus Defence and Space - has worked closely with air navigation service providers, airlines and EUROCONTROL to develop improved technologies and procedures. The ‘future of flight operations’ brochure focusses on three key developments, namely the extended flight plan (EFPL), advanced flexible use of airspace (AFUA) and the user driven prioritisation process (UDPP). The brochure is targeted at all staff involved in flight operations, and aims to give a quick ‘heads-up’ on how SESAR could influence their future work. The Single European ATM Research (SESAR) programme aims to modernise European air traffic management.
