Airports are important nodes in the European air traffic management system and therefore critical in the digital transformation of aviation. This was the main message conveyed by SESAR in its participation at the 2017 ACI Airport Exchange, which took place from 5-7 December in Muscat, Oman.
The conference is a flagship event in the aviation calendar attracting 1,500 industry leaders representing 50 countries and 65 airports to discuss how to improve passengers' experience through enhanced airport management. Through a keynote address and a dedicated stand, the SESAR JU presented how it has been working closely with airports of all sizes to deliver improved airport operations and with that greater network performance. It also was an opportunity to explain the steps the partnership is taking to transform Europe’s air traffic management system using digital technologies.
Visitors to the SEASR JU stand had a chance to find out more about the catalogue of more than 60 SESAR Solutions many of which targeting airports’ operational and business needs. These solutions are bringing tangible benefits in terms of enhanced safety, increased capacity, increased operational efficiency and resilience, lower running costs and an improved environmental footprint. Local implementations have already started, as well as synchronised deployment across 24 airports in Europe.
