The SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs), held from 12 to 15 November, 2024, in Rome represented a key event for the ATM (air traffic management) research community, offering a platform to present and discuss cutting-edge developments. The event, organised by the SESAR Joint Undertaking, focuses on exploratory research, helping to shape the future of aviation through collaborative research and technological advancements.

One of the featured posters at SIDs 2024 was the ANTICIPATE project, which seeks to improve the management of air traffic flows. The project presented its baseline scenario, showcasing valuable data and insights.

Exploring future possibilities

The ANTICIPATE project is an example of SESAR's commitment to pushing the boundaries of ATM research, with a focus on creating intelligent systems that can anticipate traffic patterns and reduce congestion. By analysing these correlations and occupancy data, the project aims to support the development of more adaptive, predictive, and efficient air traffic management systems.

At SESAR Innovation Days 2024, the ANTICIPATE project’s findings were shared with industry stakeholders, fostering discussion about how these insights can shape future ATM systems and improve the overall efficiency and safety of European airspace.

The event promises to be a key milestone in advancing ATM research, and ANTICIPATE wishes to play a vital role in the conversation about the future of air traffic management.
