The update campaign of the European Air Traffic Management (ATM) Master Plan has entered its final phase - a formal consultation with ATM stakeholders - before the plan is formally approved by the members of the SJU Administrative Board in December 2015.
Within the framework of the Single European Sky (SES), the Master Plan is the main planning tool for defining ATM modernisation priorities and ensuring the SESAR Solutions become a reality. An evolving roadmap, the Master Plan details not only the high-level view of what is needed to be done in order to deliver a high performing ATM system, but also why and by when. The plan sets the parameters for both the development and deployment, which ensures that all phases of the SESAR lifecycle remain connected.
Built over a period of six months with the support of the SESAR Work Package C and in strong collaboration between all ATM stakeholders, the latest edition takes into account developments in aviation and ATM that have occurred since the last edition and reflects these across the roadmap.
“I believe that this latest edition of the Master Plan offers a clear vision and a common roadmap of the why and what needs to change in European ATM. The plan also connects performance to technology, thereby offering stakeholders with an important tool for preparing their future investment decision making,“ says Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of the SJU.
