On 20 June, ENAV invited programme partners to a second demonstration day on its airport validation campaign in Naples. Around 70 participants representing airports, industry, universities and research centres, the members, SESAR JU and ENAV top management attended this one-day event. ENAV, jointly with SICTA, SELEX-SI and Alenia Aermacchi, gave a thorough overview of the results achieved so far as well as an outline of the upcoming Release 2 V3 validation activities at Malpensa airport.
Additionally, practical demonstrations of DMAN-SMAN integration, D-TAXI services and the Improved Weather Information System prototype (IWIS) integration to SWIM were performed. The latter showed how the SWIM-enabled IWIS system will provide DMAN and other subscribers with weather and airport capacity information via SWIM.
ENAV Director of Operational Area Massimo Bellizzi underlined ENAV’s commitment to the SESAR programme and explained, “ENAV’s validation campaign in SESAR has already delivered successful outcome in 2011 with four validation exercises carried out in Rome on ENAV industry based platforms. This year ENAV is again involved in new challenging validation activities which continue the work on en-route and TMA started last year and open the path to the airport domain.” ENAV plans to organise another demonstration day towards the end of the year.
