The 2nd SESAR Regulatory Activities Workshop took place on 25th November 2013, involving a total of 43 participants including 26 National Authorities and 2 Military Authorities, as well as the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Eurocontrol and the European Commission. The purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum in which key stakeholders could share information about their experiences in the regulatory aspects of the SESAR programme.
A broad number of topics were discussed at the workshop, from the benefits that the SESAR programme has already delivered to the ATM community to the expected improvements in ATM to be realised in the future. EASA and a number of the National Authorities presented details of their involvement in SESAR. They specifically expressed their interest in developing standardised regulation and roadmaps, and their willingness to become more involved in the SESAR programme in general.
The contribution of so many authorities in the SESAR Work Programme is hugely valuable to both the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU) and the authorities themselves. Their involvement provides the SJU with important inputs in order to improve the results of the programme. The authorities gain valuable experience of SESAR’s development phase, which will them to better perform in the deployment phase.
