The SESAR Joint Undertaking is on track to deliver its objectives, according to interim evaluations of the partnership within the framework of Horizon 2020.
Two evaluations were conducted on the activities of the SESAR Joint Undertaking. One concerned the closure of the SESAR 1 Programme (2007-2016), while the second focused on ongoing research activities under the SESAR 2020 Programme (2014-2020). To date, the SESAR JU has managed to complete over 300 projects and 350 validation exercises, delivering 63 SESAR Solutions that are currently being deployed across Europe.
The reports are based on the work of independent experts and the results of a stakeholder consultation. They clearly show that SESAR, which has been active now for 10 years, is delivering on its goal of boosting the performance of Europe’s air traffic management in terms of safety, efficiency, capacity and the environment. The SESAR JU has also demonstrated its ability to forge a strong collaboration between the full aviation community, as well as the research community and public partners. The reports conclude with some recommendations on how the Joint Undertaking can go on to deliver further on its mandate in the future.
