On 18 November, a delegation from Common Market for Eastern and southern Africa (COMESA)* met with the SESAR Joint Undertaking with a view to learning more about the SESAR programme.
The delegation included representatives from civil aviation authorities and the COMESA Airspace Integrated Project, which has been launched with the goal to create a unified single air space control framework for the region.
In addition to getting the latest on SESAR’s work programme status, the delegation was also provided with an overview of international cooperation towards global interoperability in air traffic management (ATM). The COMESA also visited the European Commission (which arranged the visit), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and EUROCONTROL.
