The CLAIRE project will carry out live flight and simulated demonstration exercises using a Thales Watchkeeper, a fully remotely piloted aircraft system, in order to investigate different classes of airspace and flight modes including airfield CTA and ground operations.

The ATC simulation exercises will be carried out by NATS (en-route services ltd) and NLR (Netherlands Research Laboratories). NATS simulations will focus on 'en-route ATM aspects including trials 'dry-runs', whereas NLR will address the ground sector and CTA RPAS operations.

The flight trials will also enable the RPAS to interact with the safety nets incorporated into current ATM processes and systems. These flight trials will be carried out by Thales using the Watchkeeper RPAS, a fully remotely piloted aircraft system.
