i4D and controlled time of arrival
Release: 2013
Reference: 463 & 324
Location: Maastricht
Description
About this exercise
These sequenced exercises will concentrate on the development of tools (e.g. Human Machine Interface refinement, enhanced What-if-function) assisting the controllers in the application of the i4D concept of flying to a time (controlled time of arrival) in the en-route and Terminal Manoeuvring Area airspace.
Their aim is to validate the concept of a shared trajectory to ensure consistency of information between ground and airborne systems.
Benefits
Show optimisation of flights derived from Controlled Time of Arrival/Controlled Time Over (time based operations).
In particular, improve:
- ATM ground system performance,
- flow/queue management,
- early conflict detection and resolution.
