In recognition of the need for the European drone industry to act quickly and take full advantage of the U-space benefits, the SESAR Joint Undertaking (JU) launched a new call of proposals dedicated to U-space demonstrations.
Building on from the Exploratory Research call on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, this call for proposals aims to award between 5 and 10 projects across 5 Member States to demonstrate at least U-space U1 and U2 services. It is an open call to complement ongoing U-space activities, speed up U-space deployment and stimulate close cooperation with EASA, standardisation bodies and industry, including newly emerging stakeholders.
The ultimate aim of these high maturity demonstration projects will be to make U-space a reality by speeding up its implementation in Europe.
In order to support potential applicants to find out more about the call, the SESAR JU organised an Information Day which looked at the following:
- The purpose and expected content of the U-space demonstrations
- Expected results and milestones
- Place of performance and Schedule
- Conditions of performance and execution guidelines
- Evaluation process
- Questions and answers
The event was also recorded and could be followed in live streaming
