The drone and the airport - Friend AND Foe ?

The rapid growth of the drone market presents many challenges and opportunities for Europe’s airports. Airports can acquire new revenue streams by allowing larger drones to land. Airports can also improve the efficiency of their operations through the deployment of small drones for asset inspection. But drones can also mean having to rethink surface operations and invest in geofencing technologies to safeguard the existing manned traffic.

A workshop organised by ACI EUROPE and the SESAR Joint Undertaking on 26 November in Oslo, kindly hosted by Oslo Airport, will examine these opportunities and challenges, drawing on research and development that is already underway within and outside the SESAR programme. Much of this research is done within the framework of U-space, an initiative by the European Commission to ensure the safe and secure integration of drones across Europe.

In case you need any assistance, please contact ACI EUROPE Liaison Officer to SESAR JU, Duarte Gouveia (+351 96 30 39 288).

Due to room capacity, participation is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first served basis.

The workshop will take place ahead of ACI’s Airport Exchange, which takes place in Oslo (27-29 November), where the SESAR JU will present its work with a stand and conference interventions. Visit the ACI Airport Exchange website
