An open day on enhanced collaborative airport performance management (SESAR project PJ.04-02) will take place on 31 January the DLR premises in Braunschweig, Germany. The open day will feature both presentations and a visit to a airport operations centre simulator.

Efficient airport operations rely on users having up-to-date information about what is happening, and when it occurs. This situational awareness can be enhanced to provide pro-active management of airport performance through demand capacity balancing (DCB) processes that aim to monitor, manage, and learn from operations. SESAR is developing a dashboard, which contains key performance indicators from landside and airside processes that impact the total airport. The dashboard allows different stakeholders to share the same vision and collaborate in root cause analyses.

The candidate solution also includes big data evaluation of historical and current data to continuously improve airport performance. The addition of integrated modules offers the ability to forecast future performance and provide what-if scenarios, while decision support functionalities can help to assess factors such as meteorological conditions. The solution includes environmental parameters in the planning, execution, and post-operation phases by providing impact analysis relating to key performance indicators contained within the EU performance reference period. The candidate solution is part of the move towards “total airport management” (TAM), a holistic monitoring and management of key airport processes in order to increase the performance of individual airports as well as the network as a whole.
