Europe’s air traffic management (ATM) is in many cases composed of country-based systems and processes, each consisting of tightly integrated and nationally or even locally optimised service layers. This fragmentation or proliferation of systems ultimately stands in the way of a more sustainable and competitive aviation industry.
Transparent from an airspace user perspective, virtual centres increase the flexibility, resilience and cost-efficiency of ATM service provision by separating out the operational and various technical service layers, allowing for international collaboration through sharing of resources resulting in an optimised service architecture.
This webinar provided an overview of the concept of virtual centres, explored use cases and the business perspective and looked at new, emerging state of the art technologies.
