BUBBLES aims at defining a concept of operations (ConOps) to provide separation management in the U-space and identifying safety and performance requirements for the involved services and systems. It is developing and validating algorithms to compute the collision probability between UAS using separation minima to keep it under acceptable levels.
Moreover, the project is conducting research on the applicability of AI to dynamically managing these minima using different separation methods and agents (from centralised strategic deconfliction to distributed self-separation). BUBBLES follows an operation centric, risk-based approach, assigning separation minima and methods depending on the UAS ConOps and the available U-space services performance.
BUBBLES is also extending the concept of Performance Based CNS to the UAS operations to draft safety and performance requirements.
In this workshop, the BUBBLES consortium intends to present the results of the first phase of validation activities to the UAS community and discuss the next steps to follow up updating the separation management concept of operations.
