DSNA
Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne (DSNA) is France's air navigation service provider, controlling air traffic in a safe, streamlined and environmentally-friendly manner. DSNA is committeed to the ecological transition of aviation to reduce its impact on air quality and noise exposure, and is pushing for greener initiatives to promote a more environmentally-friendly culture.

What is the added value of being a member of the SESAR 3 JU?
Being a member of the SESAR JU allows DSNA to continue shaping the future of European Air Traffic Management (ATM). DSNA has contributed significantly to previous SESAR programmes (SESAR 1 and SESAR 2020) and remains committed to the success SESAR’s Digital European Sky programme. Its membership allows to influence the governance and decision-making processes through participation in the Programme Committee and Governing Board. This ensures that DSNA remains a key player in defining the work programme for the SESAR JU.
Why is air traffic management and its digital transformation important to DSNA?
Digital transformation is vital for improving ATM's efficiency, resilience, safety, and environmental performance. DSNA is advancing digitalisation through its new en-route ATM system, 4-FLIGHT, which is now deployed in Reims, Marseille and Paris ACCs. In 2025, France’s upper airspace will be totally managed in an electronic environment. Future digital capabilities such as SWIM and 4D trajectory sharing will further enhance ATM operations. As SESAR 3 solutions mature, these functionalities will be able to integrate into DSNA’s systems to boost performance for our airlines customers and airspace users.
What are DSNA’s top three innovation priorities?
- Modernising CNS & ATM systems and infrastructure.
- Providing green operations to enhance environmental sustainability.
- Improving dynamic airspace configuration to enhance operational flexibility.
In which flagships of the Digital European Sky programme is DSNA particularly interested in getting involved, and why?
DSNA is particularly focused on several flagships under the Digital European Sky programme:
- Aviation Green Deal: Involved in projects like HERON to optimise aircraft trajectories, particularly for Paris arrivals, and other initiatives aimed at harmonising optimised trajectories to minimise ATM constraints.
- Connected and Automated ATM: DSNA supports the industrialisation of trajectory-based operations (TBO), leveraging 4D trajectory and conflict resolution tools to improve ATC capacity and efficiency.
- Capacity-on-Demand & Dynamic Airspace: Building on successful SESAR 2020 work, this flagship aims to enhance capacity, environmental efficiency, and resilience in ATM operations.
« We are totally involved in this crucial undergoing transition of air transport. Major environmental, technological and economic challenges to be met for a sustainable recovery of air transport! »
