After a year and a half of development, this first dissemination event will showcase the key outcomes of the ASTRA project, integrated in the AI-based tool designed for early hotspot prediction and resolution in Air Traffic Management (ATM). Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the project’s results, while ASTRA’s partners will gather feedback from key stakeholders who will directly benefit from its implementation.

ASTRA’s Mission
ASTRA consists of a function – and associated Human Machine Interface (HMI) – for Flow Management Position (FMP) personnel to enhance current ATFCM by predicting Air Traffic Control (ATC) complexity at least one hour before they are expected to occur for flights which are already in the execution phase and by proposing complexity reduction solutions within this timeframe. This function is based on Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) concepts which automatically detect complexities, inform the FMP and propose dissipation solutions to resolve the potential identified complexities. The solution targets commercial flights in en-route airspace and its benefits would include: reduced ATCO workload and increased capacity at ATC unit level; increased predictability and operational efficiency; better adherence to fuel-efficient business trajectories as well as improved safety due to the earlier detection and dissipation of complexities.
